Reduce Your Strikeouts.

OK, this one is easier said than done. But I can not stress the importance of putting the ball in play….especially at the non-pro level. There is no way you can get on base if you strikeout (unless the catch drops the ball). Good things can happen with contact.

Let’s say you strike out 20% of the time which is similar to Manny Ramirez. If you can reduce that to 10%, that is 10 more times you have a chance to do something good every 100 ABs….a few dribble hits, fielding errors, etc. If you bat just .200 in those 2-strike situations, those 20 extra points would be the difference between batting .280 and .300.

So how is this done? With 2 strikes, focus on contact, not power. Move your hands up on the bat some and concentrate on getting your top hand (control hand) through the ball.
